About this place
Alanya Castle brings together the city’s history through walls and monuments on a peninsula extending into the Mediterranean. Its settlement history stretches from the Hellenistic era to the Ottoman period, with defences reinforced under the Seljuks. The Inner Castle and Ehmedek are important museum visitor areas. Cisterns, chapel remains and traces of the palace offer insights into life within the walls. Combining these areas with the historic neighbourhoods and surrounding monuments gives a fuller understanding of the castle than a stop for the view alone.
