About this place
Laertes lies on the southern slopes of Cebel-i Reis Mountain near the mouth of Dim Valley, at around 850 metres above sea level. Approximately 25 kilometres from central Alanya, the site preserves traces of ancient Rough Cilicia. The agora, baths, cisterns, theatre and temple remains reveal different aspects of urban life. The southern necropolis helps place the settlement in context. An early inscription found at Laertes is displayed in Alanya Archaeological Museum, linking the two locations. Research access in advance and move carefully around the remains.
